In one sentence

New accessibility rules (the European Accessibility Act) used as an argument that turns accessibility declarations into a concrete work plan.

What I did

A webinar on the European Accessibility Act, co-hosted with Michał Jankowski and a lawyer. The lawyer covered the obligations, and we covered how to meet them in design and in code. I stand behind everything we said there.

The thesis

Accessibility done as a separate project easily falls out of the plan. Built into the design system, it stops depending on anyone's good will, because contrast, keyboard support and acceptance criteria are checked with every change.

Where it shows in practice

In the tools for the multi-brand group, the WCAG 2.2 contrast check runs for every mode, including mourning, and failing the threshold stops publication. One of Gromatik's quality gates works the same way.
